West Chicago Fire Fighters IAFF Local 3970 proudly represents the professional firefighters, paramedics, and emergency personnel serving the City of West Chicago, Illinois. As dedicated members of the International Association of Fire Fighters, we are committed to protecting lives, property, and the wellbeing of our community through excellence in emergency response, fire prevention, and public safety education.
Formed to advocate for the safety, rights, and working conditions of our members, Local 3970 works closely with the West Chicago Fire Protection District to ensure our firefighters have the training, resources, and support needed to respond effectively—day or night.
Beyond the emergency calls, we are deeply invested in the West Chicago community. Whether it’s supporting local charities, participating in public events, or educating residents on fire safety, we take pride in being a trusted part of the neighborhoods we serve.

The IAFF Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health Treatment and Recovery is a one-of-a-kind addiction treatment facility specializing in PTSD for IAFF members – and IAFF members only – who are struggling with addiction, PTSD other related behavioral health challenges to receive the help they need in taking the first steps toward recovery. It is a safe haven for members to talk with other members who have faced or overcome similar challenges.
